LACEY – Everett junior Sydney Taggart struck out 10 batters and allowed just two hits in a complete game as the Seagulls defeated Central Kitsap 3-0 in their 3A state opener Friday afternoon at the Regional Athletic Complex in Lacey.
The Seagulls will face Kelso (20-3 overall) in the 3A quarterfinals at 4 p.m.
Everett’s offense all came in the fifth inning with the Seagulls plating one run on an error before Erin Gordon hit a two-run double to provide all the offense Taggart, who improved to 14-0 this season, would need.
Gordon and Taggart each batted 2-for-3 for Everett (23-1).
