LACEY – Meadowdale hit four home runs and sophomore Lauren Dent pitched a shutout in the first varsity start of her career as the Mavericks defeated Auburn Mountainview 12-0 in six innings in their 3A state opener Friday morning at the Regional Athletic Complex in Lacey.
Julia Reuble hit two home runs and finished 3-for-4 with three RBI and three runs scored. Samantha Gregorky, who went 3-for-3 with four RBI, and Hailey Costello also hit home runs for Meadowdale, which used a six-run fifth inning to pull away in the contest.
The Mavericks (21-3 overall) move on to face Prairie, 6-2 winners over Lake Washington, in a 3A quarterfinal game at 4 p.m.
