SEATTLE — The Washington State Patrol says a sergeant who had stopped another motorist on the Interstate 90 floating bridge across Lake Washington was injured Friday night when a suspected drunken driver crashed into his patrol car.
KOMO-TV reported the sergeant was westbound when he made a traffic stop. While he was sitting in his car on the highway shoulder, a westbound Subaru crashed into him. Trooper Clark Jones says the injured officer was taken to a hospital but his injuries aren’t life-threatening. He wasn’t identified.
Jones says witnesses described the Subaru as traveling very fast. That driver has been arrested for investigation of drunken driving.
