EVERETT — A fire at an Everett apartment complex Saturday evening displaced 29 people, including nine children.
The fire was reported at 7:06 p.m. in the 11000 block of 7th Ave. SE. Arriving fire crews “found one apartment with a lot of smoke and flames coming out of the window,” said Rick Robinson, fire marshal for the Everett Fire Department. “It was a fairly large building with a lot of residents,” he said.
Everett firefighters were assisted by crews from Snohomish Fire District 1 and were able to extinguish the blaze in about 20 minutes.
Volunteers from the Snohomish County chapter of the American Red Cross provided assistance to those affected by the fire.
The exact cause of the fire hasn’t been determined but appears to have started in a kitchen, Robinson said. The estimated damage to the building wasn’t immediately available.
