EDMONDS — Police in Edmonds are looking for help as they investigate an early Sunday morning assault that sent one man to the hospital.
The victim was a bystander who tried to intervene when two women began to fight in a McDonald’s parking lot in the 21400 block of Highway 99. The assault occurred around 1 a.m. Sunday.
“We need the public’s assistance in identifying anyone involved in this assault,” Edmonds Detective Sgt. Michael Richardson said.
Investigators believe that two cars had pulled into the lot and two women began to fight.
A man then got out of one of the cars and started to assault one of the women, police said.
That’s when the victim, who was walking through the lot at the time, attempted to intervene.
People from both sides turned on him. He was assaulted while he was on the ground and suffered injuries to his head and body. He was taken to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle where he was listed in serious condition.
Witnesses described one of the cars as possibly being a white or silver Volkswagen Passat.
Detectives are looking for video from witnesses or nearby businesses.
