EVERETT — An emergency response exercise will be conducted at Naval Station Everett on Wednesday designed to simulate a hazardous materials incident.
People near the base may see clouds of smoke, emergency vehicles, and first responders in full protective gear.
The base is coordinating its exercise with the Everett Fire Department and local medical centers as well.
The exercise is designed for Navy personnel and local emergency responders to improve their responses and readiness prior to an actual emergency or disaster.
Anyone who has business or otherwise needs to access the base on Wednesday should expect gate closures from 9 a.m.-noon.
