Regarding the letter, “Reform needed before money”: Well said! Get rid of all collective bargaining, including at the clerical level, and run the districts as private sector companies. I spent 20-plus years in clerical administration at school districts in the state and 20-plus years in private sector. As a taxpayer it sickened me to see the money spent on incompetent clerical workers who could simply run to the union for protection while we continued to foot the bill. Not to mention the incompetency of district level administrators who we continue to pay hundreds of thousands of dollars a year to. The money is there but with the powerful teachers union that we continue to bow down to, and incompetent workers that can’t be fired, no amount of money thrown at education will fix the real problem.
