Mark Haner has been hired as the varsity girls basketball coach at Shorewood High School.
Don Dalziel, director of athletics for the Shoreline School District, announced the hiring Wednesday.
Haner spent the past two seasons as the girls basketball coach at Jackson High School in Mill Creek, where he compiled a 26-21 record.
He replaces Erica Ryan, who resigned last month after two seasons as Shorewood’s head coach.
Haner, who has accepted a position teaching social studies at Shorewood, inherits a team that was 11-12 this past season.
“We are excited to have someone with Mark’s experience and commitment for high expectations heading the Shorewood program,” Dalziel said in a press release. “We are very pleased to have Mark teaching in the building and continuing to build a program that has seen some success over the last 10 years. … His expectations for student success both on and off the floor match our school district’s expectations.”
