After the U.S. Supreme Court said Friday that bans on same-sex marriage are unconstitutional, Democratic 21st District State Sen. Marko Liias said that the decision enhances the promise of America for gay and lesbian families.
“Today, the age-old promise of liberty and justice for all became more real for millions of Americans — including me,” said Liias, a member of the legislature’s gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender caucus. “This is a historic day for gay and lesbian families. The Supreme Court has affirmed once and for all that our love is just as sacred and deserves equal treatment under the law.”
Liias represents the 21st Legislative District, including most of Edmonds, unincorporated areas north of Edmonds and Lynnwood and northeast of Lynnwood, all of Mukilteo and part of south Everett.
