Snohomish and Archbishop Murphy highlight All-State boys soccer teams

The Washington State Soccer Coaches Association has named its 2015 All-State boys soccer teams.

The teams were highlighted by several Snohomish and Archbishop Murphy players. The Panthers won the 4A state championship for a second consecutive season and Archbishop Murphy claimed the 2A state championship.

Snohomish senior Blake Crutchfield, who was also named a first-team midfielder, was named the Class 4A state MVP and Panthers head coach Dan Pingrey was named the 4A coach of the year.

Crutchfield’s teammate, senior defender Gus Baxter, was named a first-team defender.

Snohomish senior Kristian Barney received honorable mention as a forward.

Archbishop Murphy junior Brady Henderson, who was named a first-team midfielder, was the 2A state MVP. His coach, Mike Bartley was named the 2A coach of the year.

Joining Henderson on the first-team was Archbishop Murphy forward Matt Williams, Shorecrest forward Anton Resing, Archbishop Murphy midfielder Gabe Astone, Shorecrest midfielder Alex Day, Archbishop Murphy defender Ben Adams and Shorecrest defender Jack Neffner.

Shorecrest defender Corey Stever and Archbishop Murphy defender Gunnar Swenson were both named to the second team. Archbishop Murphy goalkeeper Ryan Henderson received honorable mention.

At the 3A level, Glacier Peak junior midfielder Connor Seed and his teammate, senior defender Spencer Pettit, were both named to the first team. Glacier Peak senior Riley Prescott was named a second-team forward and Marysville Pilchuck’s Sebastian Navarro was named a second-team midfielder.

In the 1A classification, Senior Ryan Fransen of King’s was named a first-team midfielder. Senior Kai Da Rosa of South Whidbey was named a second-team forward. His teammate, Jeff Meiser, was named a second-team midfielder. Josh Alexander of King’s was also named a second-team defender.

King’s goalie Lars Helleren earned honorable mention as a goalkeeper.

Teams were voted on by members of the Washington State Soccer Coaches Association.
