Police arrest Everett man following shooting at Taco Bell

EVERETT — Police have arrested a 21-year-old Everett man in connection with the June 29 shooting at a local Taco Bell restaurant that injured three people.

The suspect was booked into jail Thursday night for investigation of three counts of first-degree assault.

The investigation into Monday’s shooting revealed that the suspect drove a tan SUV to the Taco Bell, located at 7431 Evergreen Way, allegedly to sell prescription drugs. A gold Cadillac with several friends of the suspect also arrived.

Police said the suspect called a 29-year-old Everett man standing near the restaurant doors a derogatory name. The man challenged the suspect to a fight.

The suspect then got out of his SUV, drew a gun and fired several shots. The shots hit the 29-year-old man, a 19-year-old man from Lake Stevens, and an 18-year-old Marysville man who was a passenger in the Cadillac.

All the suspects fled the scene and dropped the 18-year-old off at Providence Regional Medical Center.

Paramedics sent the 19-year-old to Harborview Medical Center; the 29-year-old was treated and released at the scene.

None of the three victims were believed to have life-threatening injuries.

The Cadillac driver was arrested that night, questioned and released when it was determined he wasn’t responsible for the shooting. Subsequent interviews and review of surveillance video gave detectives enough information to identify a new suspect.

Everett Police officers located the suspect Thursday and arrested him without incident. A gun matching the description of that used in the shooting was found under the seat of the SUV. The vehicle was impounded.
