WHIDBEY ISLAND — Firefighters are battling at least 10 small brush fires on Whidbey Island along State Route 525.
KIRO-TV reported that officials were asking people to avoid the area on Friday and some homes were being evacuated.
Brush fires were also reported along State Route 18 in Auburn and in Pierce County.
The Whidbey Island brush fires were reported from Scott Road to Double Bluff Road— that’s almost a mile stretch.
Authorities were not immediately clear how the fires started. No injuries were reported.
In Auburn, Valley Firefighters responded to a brush fire on State Route 18. Drivers were asked to avoid the area. Eastbound lanes were closed just after 2 p.m.
In Pierce County, firefighters quickly extinguished three small brush fires behind the Supper Supplements.
