Ron Gipson, Everett City Councilman and candidate for reelection, made the following statements in Voters’ Pamphlet: “I understand the challenges working families face, because I also work for a living. I’m proud to serve our community … as a juvenile correction officer.”
In fact, Gipson has not worked or served as a juvenile corrections officer for over 1?½ years, since he was placed on administrative leave by the county. He has not worked a day at Denney Youth Center one day since. Yet he has/is getting paid tens of thousands of dollars by the citizens of Everett and the county for not working. Ron Gipson was also the central focus of investigation that cost us tax payers over $500,000 and had thecCounty settle a lawsuit for over $700,000.
How does all of this fly in light of Mr. Gipson’s statement regarding fiscal discipline that the “Council must continue to tighten our belts and make wise budget decisions with taxpayer dollars”?
