TACOMA — Those looking for some late summer reading in Tacoma should stock up on material since the city’s library system will close for two weeks starting Aug. 17.
The News Tribune of Tacoma reported that all eight locations of the library will reopen Sept. 1 with new check-out systems that should make leaving the library faster. Instead of scanning each book by hand with a barcode scanner, a computer antenna will be able to automatically scan tags.
Library spokesman David Domkoski said any books due during the closure will not be due until after the library reopens.
