AAUW branches honor STEM students
The Stanwood-Camano American Association of University Women on May 12 honored 10 high school junior female students who were nominated by their high school faculties as outstanding in the STEM fields of study.

CTE students honored in Edmonds
The Edmonds School District CTE Leadership and Achievement Awards banquet on June 6 honored juniors and seniors in career and technical education programs. Students were selected by teachers and approved by members of an advisory committee.
“With nearly 1,500 students in CTE courses yearly, it is quite an honor to be selected for this award,” said Amanda Ralston, a district spokeswoman.

Farm Bureau scholarship
The Snohomish County Farm Bureau has awarded a $1,000 scholarship to Snohomish High School graduate Chase Goetz.
South Everett Rotary Students of the Month
The South Everett-Mukilteo Rotary Club recently named Students of the Month: Genieva McPherren (ACES), Amber Ivey (ACES), Aleia Coleman (ACES), Katie Clark (Kamiak), Meranda Pham (Cascade).
Mukilteo staff honored
Ann Freemon, an English teacher at Mariner High School, and Lois Beck, a paraeducator at Columbia Elementary School, were the winners of the second semester Lighthouse Award, the highest honor that can be bestowed on a Mukilteo School District employee.
Terrace teacher highlighted by Rotary
Cathy Johannes, a teacher for 26 years at Mountlake Terrace Elementary School, was named the Alderwood-Terrace Rotary Club Educator of the Month for May.
“Cathy is affectionately known as ‘The Queen’ at Mountlake Terrace Elementary. This is built on the respect she has earned from every one of us,” Principal Doug Johnson said.
Larson accepted into scholars society
Peyton Larson of Monroe has accepted membership in the National Society of Collegiate Scholars, an invitation-only interdisciplinary honors group for first- and second-year college students. Larson, who graduated from Monroe High School in 2015, now attends Central Washington University.
