The 15 best local music releases of 2015

Typically I keep these best of lists to ten artists but 2015 had so much great stuff to offer that I needed to expand to 15 and still won’t be able to cover everything.

2015 was the year we got to know Hibou and Car Seat Headrest, Everett’s Fauna Shade took us on a psychedelic ride through the cosmos with their first full length release, Lemolo gave us that record we’ve been clamoring for since The Kaleidoscope (and it was worth the wait), Noah Gunderson introduced us to Young In The City, Say Hi made another creepy Vampire album and Mr. Night Sky (Ritchie Rekow) made me feel a little bit better about Rose Windows breaking up with the release of his debut EP.

Below is a list of 15 local releases (in no particular order) that I couldn’t stop listening to in 2015. Go buy all of these albums and see all of these bands:

Fauna Shade – “Baton Rouge”

Mr. Night Sky – “Mr. Night Sky EP”

Hibou – “Hibou”

Lemolo – “Red Light Return”

Ivan and Alyosha – “It’s All Just Pretend”

The Hollers – “Like Dreaming EP”

Say Hi – “Bleeder’s Digest”

Car Seat Headrest – “Teens Of Style”

Young In The City – “Young In The City EP”

Brothers From Another – “This Summer”

String of Pearls – “The Way We Are”

Sundries – “The Wave”

Greet The Sea – “Greet The Sea”

Telekinesis – “Ad Infinitum”

Lonely Mountain Lovers – “Lonely Mountain Lovers”
