Boeing engineer from Mukilteo wins public-speaking contest

Toastmasters International District 2 crowned its International Speech Contest champion on May 21 at the Microsoft Conference Center in Redmond. Winner Vladimir Balabanov is a Mukilteo resident and Boeing engineer. He is headed to Washington, D.C., in August to compete against other winners from all over the world in the World Champion of Public Speaking 2016 competition.

Visit WorkSource Lynnwood’s open house today

WorkSource Lynnwood welcomes local businesses, job seekers and others in the community to a ribbon-cutting and open house from 1:30 to 4:00 p.m. today at its new location. The new office is located at 18009 Highway 99, Suite A, Lynnwood. Speakers at this event include Employment Security Department Commissioner Dale Peinecke and Snohomish County Executive Dave Somers.

McClain Insurance exchanges worn U.S. flags this week

Exchange your worn American flag for a new one from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. through Friday at the McClain Insurance office at 10410 19th Avenue SE, Everett, directly south of Costco. All community members are invited to this free event, which is held annually by McClain Insurance prior to the celebration of Flag Day on June 14.

Edmonds College to offer 2 new four-year degree programs

The college is accepting applications for bachelor programs in computer science as well as robotics and artificial intelligence.
