The Boeing Co. has changed course and is going ahead with developing the 737-7 MAX, reports Leeham News and Comment.
Previously, the company had encouraged the two customers for the smallest 737 MAX version to take the larger 737-8 MAX. The largest version is the 737-9.
Boeing’s change of heart is an effort to block Bombardier and Embraer from cracking into the single-aisle market, according to the report.
