MOUNTLAKE TERRACE — Police are asking for help identifying a young man whose body was found Wednesday morning in Lake Ballinger.
The body was spotted by someone out on a walk and reported about 8:45 a.m. near the dock. A dive team recovered the remains around noon.
There were no obvious signs of trauma, Mountlake Terrace police Cmdr. Doug Hansen said. The man is described as black and in his teens or 20s. He wore a black hooded sweatshirt over a T-shirt, with gray sweatpants and black Nike high-top sneakers. He wore a ring on his left index finger and a necklace, Hansen said. The man also had a previously healed injury to his right ear. No identification was found.
Detectives are reviewing reports of missing people. The body may have been in the water for several weeks, Hansen said.
The Snohomish County Medical Examiner’s Office will determine the cause of death. Anyone who may know the man is asked to contact 425-670-8260.
