Letter: Why should we care about destructive addicts?

I do not understand why we should careon whether or not a heroin addict survives or not from their illegal use of an illegal drug. If they want to choose their own death by doing something that is not forced upon them but taken voluntarily then let them. Money that we spend on trying to save addicts so they could survive and then the next day go right back to what they were doing can be well spent on other community items that need to be taken care of far more important than saving some addict’s life so they could go out and destroy not only their life but the life of other people that surround them.
