A third Seattle Storm game has been added to the broadcast schedule for ESPN 2 this season. The July 2 road game against the Chicago Sky will now be shown on national TV.

The game against the Sky joins the Aug. 6 game and Phoenix and the Aug. 20 home game against Los Angeles as the Storm's only games on ESPN 2 this season. NBA TV will also carry three more of the Storm's away games.

The career of WNBA legend and Seattle Storm forward Tina Thompson will come to an end following the 2013 WNBA season. Thompson announced her impending retirment on Friday.

The Seattle Storm announced a broadcasting partnership with KING broadcasting for the 2013 season on Friday.

The deal ensures that every Storm game will be available either on TV, on radio or streaming online. The Storm play two nationally televised games on ESPN 2 and three games that will be aired on NBA TV. In addition to the games on ESPN 2 and NBA TV, all Storm home games will be broadcast on either KONG or Live Well Seattle.

The Seattle Storm defeated the Los Angeles Sparks 67-66 in both teams preseason opener on Sunday. Alysha Clark's 15-foot jumper with six seconds remaining proved to be the difference.

Tina Thompson and Tianna Hawkins led the Storm with eight points apiece and Noelle Quinn added six points and seven rebounds.

Ebony Hoffman scored eight points and grabbed four rebounds to lead the Sparks.

The Seattle Storm announced on Thursday that members of the coaching staff and players will be on hand at Green Lake in Seattle on Saturday from 2 to 4 p.m.

Guard Tanisha Wright and forwards Tina Thompson, Camille Little and Shekinna Stricklen as well a Storm newcomers Nakia Sanford and Noelle Quinn are all scheduled to be on hand for the activities which include Storm dance troupe performances, basketball games and other activities.

The Seattle Storm have announced that point guard Sue Bird had successful surgery to remove a cyst from her left knee on Thursday.

The surgery was performed by Dr. Michael Joyce in Hartford, Conn. Recovery time is estimated at six months. Bird has already announced that she would miss the 2013 season following her surgery.

The Seattle Storm announced their 15-player training camp roster for the 2013 WNBA season on Thursday.

The team will hold its first practice on Sunday at 2:30 p.m. at Royal Brougham Pavilion on the campus of Seattle Pacific University.

The Seattle Storm announced the addition of Katelan Redmon and Keisha Hampton to the 2013 training camp roster on Friday.

Redmon, a guard from Gonzaga, was drafted 36th overall by the New York Liberty last season. She appeared in seven games for New York a year ago.

An offseason of bad news got even worse for the Seattle Storm on Tuesday when the team announced that point guard Sue Bird will undergo surgery on her right knee to address a cyst that was discovered at the end of 2012. Bird will miss the entire 2013 WNBA season.

So far it has been a busy offseason for the Seattle Storm.

 

Two more roster changes were made within the past eight days. The Storm announced a week ago Wednesday that they had signed free-agent forward Nakia Sanford. Sanford most recently was with the Phoenix Mercury and averaged 4.1 points and 3.3 rebounds per game in 2012.

The Seattle Storm annoucned they have signed guards Temeka Johnson and Noelle Quinn to free-agent contracts on Thursday.

The signings of Johnson and Quinn brings the roster to 11 players after head coach and general manager Brian Agler announced Lauren Jackson and Ann Wauters would not play for the Storm in 2013.

The Seattle Storm announced on Wednesday that Lauren Jackson will not compete with the team in 2013.

Jackson, who recently underwent surgery to repair a hamstring injury will remain in Australia to rehabilitate the injury. Her contract with the Storm has been suspended and she is expected to return to the team in 2014.
