Located just 20 minutes south of downtown Everett, Mountlake Terrace is a quiet, but thriving, Seattle suburb that boasts more than 19,000 residents, as well as a wide variety of recreational attractions. Since it’s founding in 1954, Mountlake Terrace has grown from a sleepy rural community to a thriving suburb that warrants a visit.

The community has more than 262 acres of recreational attractions, which includes parks, walking and biking trails, sports fields and a golf course. The Mountlake Terrace Recreation Center houses an indoor swimming pool with a lazy river, spa, and sauna. The pool has a children’s island with spray toys. Ballinger Park – one of the community’s main recreation spaces – is currently undergoing an extensive renovation to convert its golf course to a 42-acre park located on the shores of Lake Ballinger.

The community also hosts a number of special events throughout the year, including the Tour de Terrace – a Seafair-sanctioned summer festival with a pancake breakfast, parade, classic auto show, 5k run/walk and a barbecue competition. Festivalgoers can also enjoy a carnival, live music, fireworks and a street fair.
