EVERETT — A head-on collision near milepost 20 of Highway 522 left three people with serious injuries on Monday evening.
Shortly before 4:30 p.m. Monday, firefighters from Snohomish Regional Fire & Rescue responded to reports of the collision between a 1999 Chevrolet Suburban and a 2011 BMW sedan on Highway 522 between Monroe and Maltby.
According to the Washington State Patrol, the driver in the BMW was traveling east on Highway 522 and the Suburban was traveling west. The BMW crossed the centerline and struck the Suburban, the state patrol said.
First responders extricated both drivers. Three people were transported to Providence Regional Medical Center Everett with serious injuries, according to a press release. Their conditions are unknown.
As of 5:30 p.m., the road remained closed while the Washington State Patrol investigated the crash.
