EDMONDS — Jheneah Elowyn Horne didn’t waste any time arriving in 2025.
Less than 30 minutes into the New Year, Jheneah became the first baby born at Swedish Edmonds in 2025.
After two hours of labor that began in 2024, Jheneah was born at 12:22 a.m. Wednesday to Amber-Lynne Rickett and Steffen Horne, of Lynnwood. She weighed 7.2 pounds and measured 20 inches tall.
This is the first child for Rickett and Horne. She is also the first grandchild and great-grandchild on both sides of the family, according to the hospital.
The couple plans to get married, buy a house and “raise their child to be kind, but strong,” they told the hospital.
Jheneah’s middle name, Elowyn, was inspired by the name of a child from Washington state who died from leukemia at just 17 months old in 2023.
“This story was so astonishing that I couldn’t help but fall in love with the name,” Rickett told the hospital. “It will constantly remind us to stay kind and thankful for blessings in life.”
Jheneah Horne is also the first member of Generation Beta to be born at Providence Swedish Edmonds. Generation Alpha lasted from 2010 to 2024, according to McCrindle Research, an Australian consulting firm that coined the names of Generations Alpha and Beta. Gen Beta will last through 2039, and many of its members will live to see the the 22nd century.
