Now that Donald Trump has won the 2024 presidential election the focus shifts to what Kamala Harris and the Democrats did to lose the election. Was it because of her proposed policies, her campaign strategy, her speaking style? The list is endless and will be debated until the next presidential election.
The truth is none of those decisions or issues mattered. She lost for one simple reason: She is a woman. Misogyny rules when it comes to electing a president. Trump could and did speak gibberish, but because he is a man and he was running against a woman, he could do no wrong.
It was the same situation with Hillary Clinton in 2016. The thought of a woman running this country is anathema to a majority of men (especially young men), whether they be white, Black, or Latino. They will go out of their way to vote for the male candidate regardless the policies he proposes even if they adversely impact the individual, his family, or friends. Latino men voting for Trump even though he plans to deport their undocumented families, friends, and neighbors is a perfect example.
A woman will only become president of the United States when misogyny is banished from this country. And, unfortunately, I do not see that happening in my lifetime.
