Some local biotech stocks have done OK recently, but it generally hasn’t been a good sector for individual investors to plow money into lately. As Fool.com points out, biotech stocks as a whole dropped almost 7 percent during the past year, according to SmartMoney’s Sector Tracker.
Some, including shares of Amgen (http://finance.yahoo.com/q?s=AMGN), did much worse.
But maybe it’s time now’s the time to pick up some of these stocks. After all, they can’t go down much more, can they? Well, the sector’s gone down another 3 percent or so this year so far, but the Motley Fool Web site says a turnaround may be in the works, http://www.fool.com/investing/high-growth/2007/03/26/turnaround-time-for-biotech.aspx.
