Oki Golf sells Mukilteo’s Harbour Pointe, other courses for $137M

BELLEVUE — Oki Golf announced Tuesday that it sold its courses including Harbour Pointe Golf Course in Mukilteo to a Hong Kong-based investment group.

HNA Holdings, which owns Hainan Airlines, paid $137 million for the properties. As part of the sale, Oki Golf will be retained to manage and run the courses.

“While we have been approached several times regarding acquisition, this is the first time, we felt that the vision and opportunity being presented was a strong fit and a natural next step for the evolution of the Oki brand,” said Scott Oki, founder of Oki Golf, in a statement.

The golf courses in the deal are: Harbour Pointe in Mukilteo; The Golf Club at Newcastle; Washington National Golf Club in Auburn; The Golf Club at Redmond Ridge in Redmond; Trophy Lake Golf & Casting in Port Orchard; The Golf Club at Hawks Prairie in Lacey; The Plateau Club at Sammamish; and Indian Summer Golf & Country Club in Olympia.

The 1,880 acres of property are home to 180 holes, complete with clubhouses and other amenities.

Oki Golf previously sold Echo Falls Golf Course in Snohomish to international investment group KFP more than a year ago. Oki Golf continues to manage Echo Falls.

Oki Golf said that popular programs such as the Oki Golf Players Card will continue.

“I’m pleased with the opportunity that an innovative global partner such as HNA brings and I look forward to contributing my expertise and specific market knowledge as part of the management team,” said Nancy Cho, president and CEO of Oki Golf, in the statement. “Most importantly, I am excited to further develop our golf business through additional services and experiences for our current and prospective customers.”

HNA Holdings Xu Haohao told the South China Morning Post that the company is positive about global golf tourism mainly due to “the continuing growth in the number and spending of high-net-worth outbound tourists from the (People’s Republic of China.)”

He said Seattle will be “an excellent gateway to tap into the North America golf tourism market.”

HNA’s Hainan Airlines is China’s fourth-largest carrier and currently operates seven routes flying to five U.S. cities, including from Beijing to Seattle.
