Front Porch: Kids can learn all about bubbles Wednesday at Stanwood Library

World of bubbles

Come learn about bubbles and experiment with different tools for blowing them at the Stanwood Library at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday. Kids can make tiny bubbles, giant bubbles and differently shaped bubbles. There are bubbles they can pop and bubbles they can hold. The program is planned outside, weather permitting. The event is part of the Explore Summer reading program. For more information, go to sno-isle.org/locations/stanwood and click on “Classes and Events.”

The next Coffee Klatch: Marysville Mayor Jon Nehring plans a Coffee Klatch for 5:30 p.m. Aug. 8 at Marysville Rotary Ranch at Jennings Park. Attendees are asked to RSVP to 360-363-8091 or ltocco@marysvillewa.gov. The location is 6915 Armar Road, and parking is available.

Boat launch party: The new Snohomish boat launch is set to be dedicated at 2 p.m. Friday at 20 Lincoln Ave. Everyone is invited. The state contributed $500,000 for the project, according to a news release from the city. Construction began in September and wrapped up earlier this month. For now, parking is free. The city has operated a boat launch at that location for decades. The previous boat ramp was damaged and the parking lot didn’t fit demand. The old ramp will be available for non-motorized vessels.

Don’t forget Night Out: National Night Out is coming up Aug. 2. Many police departments register block parties for visits from officers and elected officials. It’s not too late to organize an event in your neighborhood.
