The Everett Animal Shelter hosts thousands of stray and unwanted animals every year. Some are adopted right away, but some sit in the shelter for weeks at a time, waiting for a home. The shelter has dogs and cats, as well as some rabbits and birds, all looking for a loving home.
All pets are vaccinated, spayed or neutered, and given a identifying microchip before they are adopted. Take a look at some of the dogs, cats and other animals that are available for adoption at the shelter now.
If you’re interested in adopting an animal, the shelter is open daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. For more information, call 425-257-6000.

Rookie is an adorable, squishy, cow-colored kitty with the strangest meow you will ever hear! It’s basically just a squeak that you would never believe came from such a big boy. Because he’s on the plump side, he came to us in an early diabetic state. We were quickly able to get things in check and now he just needs to be fed a canned only diet to keep his blood sugar under control and lose some weight. Rookie lives for the lap and he is content to sit there and purr, knead, and also drool on you a little. Despite his size and age (11 years young), he also has his playful side and likes to explore high places. Come check out this cutie-pie, if for no other reason than to hear that meow! Sherman is a tiny dog looking for his retirement home. He will need a meet and greet with any resident dogs and they should be about his size or very gentle. Sherman has received a dental and has current blood work. He also has some neurological issues so please read all of his medical before considering him for adoption. (Curt Story/Everett Animal Shelter)
