Elton John wasn’t still standing in early November.
The pop icon came down with an E. coli bacterial infection and a case of the flu. He had to postpone his two KeyArena shows alongside Billy Joel on their Face to Face tour.
The pop pianists will finally make it to Seattle this coming week as they play their rescheduled dates.
Fans can expect to hear many classic tracks during the concerts, which will find the men playing solo and together.
When the two kicked off their tour in March 2009, their 32-song set list focused on their best-known material, “Rocket Man” and “Piano Man” alike.
7:30 p.m. Wednesday and Feb. 6, KeyArena, 305 Harrison St., Seattle; $68.55 to $198.30; ticketmaster.com or 800-745-3000.
Shawn Colvin: Good things come in threes for Shawn Colvin.
Since her career began in the 1980s, she’s won three Grammy Awards, including one in 1997 for Record of the Year.
She used a three-night stand in California to patch together her 2009 live album, which included a new version of her smash hit “Sunny Came Home.”
And now she returns to Seattle for another three-night stand, settling in at the Triple Door next week.
Colvin has been a familiar face in the Seattle area recently. The last time she played the region was in October, when she headlined a show at the Edmonds Center for the Arts.
7:30 p.m. Tuesday to Thursday, the Triple Door, 216 Union St., Seattle; $50; www.thetripledoor.com or 206-838-4333.
Tower of Power: The renowned funk band blasted its way into Seattle on Thursday night to begin a four-night stand at Dimitriou’s Jazz Alley.
The group is touring behind its April 2009 album, “Great American Soulbook,” which finds the horn-driven band covering the work of Otis Redding and Aretha Franklin, among others.
The 10-person group, which formed in California in 1967, still retains four of its founding members, not to mention its loyal fanbase.
Earlier this week, weekend tickets remained only for its 10 p.m. Sunday show, with the other shows sold out.
7:30 and 10 tonight, Dimitriou’s Jazz Alley, 2033 Sixth Ave., Seattle; $40; www.ticketmaster.com or 800-745-3000.
Alice in Chains: The grunge rockers have sold out their two hometown shows at the Paramount Theatre.
The group is touring behind its comeback album, “Black Gives Way to Blue,” its first album without founding member Layne Staley, who died in 2002.
7:30 p.m. Thursday and 8 p.m. Feb. 5, Paramount Theatre, 911 Pine St., Seattle; sold out; stgpresents.org or 877-784-4849.
