What: Yucca flaccida ‘Golden Sword’, commonly called Golden Sword variegated yucca, is an evergreen shrub that forms a rosette of bold, arching, striped leaves. It provides strong structural relief to perennial gardens and evergreen color to winter gardens. This shrub is very easy to grow, being drought and heat tolerant, and makes an outstanding container specimen.
Where: This plant prefers a well-drained or sandy soil but is tolerant of clay and is very drought tolerant once established. The best growth and flowering occur in full sun.
Size: Grows to 3 feet high by 5 feet wide in 10 years.
Care: Once established, yearly removal of the oldest, dead or damaged leaves in the fall or winter is recommended.
