What’s happening at Everett’s Evergreen Arboretum and Gardens; Garden tour and arts and crafts fair are planned in Snohomish.

Arboretum plans class, plant sale in June

Here’s what’s happening online and in-person at Everett’s Evergreen Arboretum and Gardens in June:

Building a Pollinator Garden: From Lawn to Blooming Exuberance with Sharon Collman: If you’re tired of a pathetic lawn and garden-eating conifers, this class will help you create beautiful beds filled with flowering trees, shrubs, and perennials that entice pollinators. Sharon Collman is a founding member of the WSU Master Gardener Program. She has taught classes on Integrated Pest Management, plant problem diagnosis, insect identification and appreciation, and beneficial insects in the landscape. She is the author of over 75 publications and has received numerous awards for her educational programs.

The free online Zoom class is set for 6-7 p.m. June 8. Register at www.evergreenarboretum.com/classesandevents. A link will be sent one day before the class, and the class will be recorded and available for two weeks after.

Evergreen Arboretum Plant Sale Weekend: This weekend plant sale is a two-day event: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. June 18 and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. June 19. Any leftover plants will be half-price from 4-7 p.m. June 20.

The sale will feature annuals, perennials, trees and bushes, all gathered and gleaned from local gardeners and growers. It’s held in the upper parking lot, next to the Arboretum classroom. Come early for best selection.

The arboretum is at 145 Alverson Blvd., Everett.

Meet the Master Gardeners with Carolyn (Dode) Carlson: This in-person demonstration is set for 11 a.m. to noon June 18 at the arboretum. Registration is not required.

Learn more about the beautiful and much-photographed 200-foot border that the Master Gardeners maintain. The Arboretum’s Master Gardener Demonstration Garden is planted and maintained by Snohomish County Master Gardeners, who tend this garden for use as a classroom to learn plant identification and care. Join Carolyn (Dode) Carlson and members of her volunteer team to learn more about the program and the plants in their garden.

Snohomish Garden Tour set for June 26

The Snohomish Garden Club will hold its annual Garden Tour 2022 from noon to 5 p.m June 26.

Tickets are available online at snohomishgardenclub.com under Events, McAuliffe Nursery, McDaniel Do-It-Center and Sunnyside Nursery.

This year’s tour features eight beautiful gardens in Snohomish. Gardens are arranged in a walkable 1.3-mile loop. You can park on side streets, at Central Elementary School or at Snohomish High School. No pets, smoking or vaping, and no restroom facilities will be available at any of the gardens.

Proceeds will fund youth education grants and scholarships.
