What: Rosa “Eden,” or simply Eden climbing rose, was named the World’s Best Rose in 2006 by the World Federation of Rose Societies. Its large, pink and cream blended blooms are striking against its glossy green leaves. One of the premiere roses produced by the renowned House of Meilland in France, Eden is an early bloomer and repeats throughout the summer and fall. The climbing rose is resistant to black spot and mildew, both excellent qualities in the Pacific Northwest climate. It is a short climber, and can easily be kept trimmed as a shrub.
Sun/shade: Six hours of sun is ideal for maximum bloom for this English-style rose.
Size: The Eden climbing rose grows to about 8 feet tall and 5 feet wide.
Find it: At many full service nurseries.
See it: Within the Snohomish County Master Gardeners Demonstration Garden, Jennings Memorial Park, 6915 Armar Road, Marysville.
