A section of the Pacific Crest Trail in the Glacier Peak Wilderness will close Saturday due to the Blakenship fire, which is burning near Agnes Creek.
Heading north on the trail, the closure begins at Suiattle Pass, which is where the PCT leaves Snohomish County. There is a detour for the closure, which heads east through Holden Village before heading northeast to the far end of Lake Chelan and then heading northwest to rejoin the PCT.
Here’s the information from the Forest Service:
Pacific Crest Trail Closure and Detour: A closure and detour on the Pacific Crest Trail (PCT) on the Chelan Ranger District will go in effect Saturday July 25, 2015. The closure is to ensure public safety due to an ongoing wildfire.
The Blankenship Fire, which started on July 14 has grown to 70 acres and is progressively backing down toward the Pacific Crest Trail. The trail will be closed on the south end at Suiattle Pass, at the junction of the PCT # 2000 and Hart/Lyman Trail # 1256 and on the north end at Five Mile Camp, near the junction of the PCT # 2000 and the West Fork of Agnes Creek Trail # 1272.
Hikers will be detoured around the closure via the Hart/Lyman Trail #1256 to the Holden Village area. Hikers will be directed around Holden Village by a flagged trail as travel through Holden Village is not allowed due to construction activities associated with the Holden Mine cleanup. The detour continues up the Ten Mile Falls Trail #1270 and Ten Mile Creek Trail # 1241 to Devore Creek Trail #1244, and on to the Stehekin Valley. Hikers can get back on the PCT at the High Bridge Trailhead. See Detour Map which is also posted at the detour locations.
Wolverine Trail Closures Lifted: Trail closures around Holden Village due to the Wolverine Fire have been lifted and are open for public use as of July 23, 2015. However, trail closures associated with the Holden Mine Remediation project are still in effect. In addition, rock blasting in the Rock Quarry, may cause 2-3 hours delays along the 10 Mile Falls Trail. Blasting takes place in the morning and trail closures will be signed and staffed when in effect. Bus transportation from Holden Village to Lucerne Landing on Lake Chelan is available ONLY on Saturday and Sunday. Space is limited and transportation REQUIRES A RESERVATION by contacting Holden Village.
