50 years ago (1961)
Contributions to the 1961 Hanging Basket Fund drive were mounting slowly and now totaled $381.45. Recent contributors were F.A. Audley, McGhee Pharmacy, Roxy Theater, Belgium Café, American Legion Auxiliary, Driftwood Garden Club, Leo Barry, Pacific Grinding Wheel, Florence Fletcher, Ruth Oliver, Everett Trust and Savings Bank and Trofast Lodge.
From the looks of thing, Everett residents would not be bothered by sprinkling controls this summer. Water superintendent Rollie Berry said today that the water supply situation appeared entirely adequate for normal summer use. He added that while it wasn’t necessary to regulate, users should take care not to waste water.
25 years ago (1986)
Ellen Dodge said a trip to Expo 86 in Vancouver, B.C. was well worth a visit, but recommended taking plenty of time. She also said that good walking shoes were necessary to cover all the exhibits.
Snohomishites Bob and Maureen Kelley had returned to their native Puget Sound area, moving from the Denver area earlier this week. Meanwhile, Art Simpson and Joanne Brenner of the San Francisco Bay area were in Everett visiting his parents, Art and Janalene Simpson.
