50 YEARS AGO (1960)
Dr. Harold C. Fischer of Everett was to speak before Everett City Council of PTA on sex education of children. Fischer gradated from the University of Illinois Medical School and interned in Chicago before coming to Everett 14 years ago.
Walt Price, coach of the Everett Junior College Trojans, received quite a birthday present from his team last night. They presented him the 1960 Washington State Conference championship by dominating Columbia Basin of Pasco, 35-0. Everett finished its league play with a 4-1 record.
25 YEARS AGO (1985)
General Telephone Co. of the Northwest announced today a $30 million building project that would nearly double the size of its Everett headquarters. A new 120,000-square-foot wing was to be added to the building at 41st Street and Colby Avenue. Scheduled for completion in 1990, it would house an additional 570 employees.
“Everybody’s got all the fish they can handle,” said Bob Lundberg as he stood in the rain watching workers unload his seiner at the Steuart Seafoods dock near the net sheds. It was the biggest salmon harvest in years.
