Special Live 8 tickets on sale this weekend

More than 80 international music artists are uniting in extraordinary support for Live 8.

For three days – Saturday through Monday – lawn seats sold for eight summer concerts at White River Amphitheatre in Auburn will be just $18. The specially priced tickets include a donation to Live 8 and a white “one” wristband from Ticketmaster.

Supporters of musician Bob Geldof’s one.org and the Long Walk to Justice wear white “one” wristbands as a show of solidarity against extreme poverty.

Artists participating in the $18 ticket promotion and the dates they perform are:

* Judas Priest with Queensryche – Wednesday

* Anger Management 3 with Eminem and 50 Cent – July 17

* Motley Crue with Sum 41 – July 30

* Avril Lavigne with Gavin DeGraw – Aug. 8

* Ozzfest 2005 – Aug. 11

* Coldplay – Aug. 16

* John Mellencamp and John Fogerty – Aug. 24

* Earth, Wind &Fire and Chicago – Aug. 31

“This is a fitting way to prove to the leaders of the G8 that the demand for them to do the right thing at their July 6 meeting extends far beyond the artists who are playing the eight Live 8 concerts and the people who were able to attend or watch on television,” Geldof said.

Tickets will be available starting at 9 a.m. Saturday at Whiteriverconcerts.com and Ticketmaster.com. Tickets are also available at Ticketmaster outlets or by phone. Tickets will be available at the White River box office from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday. Ticketmaster convenience charges have been reduced for these specially priced tickets, and the venue box office will waive ticket charges. The offer ends at midnight Monday. Quantities limited.
