THEATER

Village Theatre: Everett Performing Arts Center, 2710 Wetmore Ave.; 425-257-8600 or www.villagetheatre.org/everett. “The Gin Game” runs through March 25. Weller and Fonsia are two strangers who enter into a seemingly harmless game of gin rummy. The rest of the season includes the new musical “String” and “Hairspray.”

Edmonds Driftwood Players: Wade James Theatre, 950 Main St., Edmonds; www.edmondsdriftwoodplayers.org or 425-774-9600. “Everything in the Garden” runs through March 25. This dark comedy focuses on a suburban housewife and her husband who discover that sometimes the finer things in life cost more than ever imagined. If this play were a movie, it would be rated PG-13 for adult themes and language. Shows are 8 p.m. Thursday through Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday. Tickets are $20 general; $18 for youth, seniors and military. Driftwood also is accepting submissions for its ninth annual Festival of Shorts. The festival, with the theme “Be Careful What You Wish For,” will be presented in four performances, 8 p.m. July 6, 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. July 7 and 2 p.m. July 8. Deadline for submissions is April 2. Email short plays to shorts@edmondsdriftwoodplayers.org. The musical comedy “Dirty Rotten Scoundrels” opens April 20. Lawrence and Freddy are both scammers who trick women into giving them money. After meeting, they try to work together. Tickets are $28 general, $25 youth, senior, military.

Phoenix Theatre: Wade James Theatre, 9673 Firdale Ave., Edmonds. Call 206-533-2000 or go to www.tptedmonds.org. “God of Carnage” opens April 6. In this Tony Award-winning comedy of grown-ups behaving badly, two high-strung couples — Alan and Annette Raleigh and Michael and Veronica Novak — meet for a civil discussion about a playground fight between their sons. The conversation quickly morphs into a laugh-out-loud train wreck of an afternoon among savages. Tickets are $12-24.

Red Curtain: The Red Curtain Arts Center, 9315 State Ave., Suite J, Marysville (in the Goodwill shopping center, behind the Everett Community College cosmetology school). “The Family Business opens April 20. Death has come calling, but somehow the rookie specter has arrived at the wrong address at the wrong time. Caroline is not ready for the Afterlife, but Death’s inexperience results in her learning more about her eventual demise than she should. Olympic Ballet Theatre: See the comical ballet “Coppelia” at 2 p.m. April 7 at the Everett Performing Arts Center, 2710 Wetmore Ave., and in Edmonds at 2 p.m. April 14 and 5 p.m. April 15, Edmonds Center for the Arts, 410 Fourth Ave. N. For tickets, visit www.olympicballet.com or call 425-774-7570. An eccentric toy maker, Dr.Coppélius, is hard at work to bring his life-size dancing doll to life. The doll is so lifelike that Frantz, a villager, becomes infatuated with it, and sets aside his true heart’s desire, Swanhilda, who later fools Dr. Coppélius and Frantz by pretending to be the doll come to life. Choreographed by Mara Vinson and Oleg Gorboulev.

Everleigh Estates: Unexpected Productions hosts “Everleigh Estates: An Improvised Tale of Mystery in the Average World” at 8:05 p.m. Saturdays through March. Shows are March 24 and 31.
