EVERETT — A man is dead after a two-vehicle head-on collision Tuesday morning involving a Smart car and a Honda minivan on Highway 9 in Lake Stevens.
Around 9:18 a.m., Lake Stevens police and first responders from multiple agencies responded to the crash in the 700 block of Highway 9 Southeast, according to a Lake Stevens Police Department press release. When officers arrived, they found the driver of the Smart car, an adult man, had been ejected from the vehicle, the release said. He was pronounced dead at the scene by Snohomish Regional Fire & Rescue.
Two juveniles — the driver and a passenger in the Honda minivan — were transported to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to police.
Highway 9 was closed in both directions from 20th Street Southeast to Market Place for several hours following the crash. The road reopened Tuesday afternoon.
Washington State Patrol is investigating the cause of the collision.
