EVERETT — An 11-year-old male attempted to stab a student on Friday at a Lynnwood middle school, the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Department said.
In a release Friday, the sheriff’s office said the child arrived at Alderwood Middle School and tried to stab another student. A teacher witnessed the incident and intervened, stopping the victim from being injured, the sheriff’s office said.
The child who reportedly attempted the stabbing is believed to be a former student at the school, according to a release. The child fled on foot and is currently at large, the sheriff’s office said.
Deputies said there is no active threat to students, staff or the school. It remains an active investigation.
