Air Force Airman Prystan K. Viluan graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas. He is the son of Stanell and Jeffrey Kusler of Lake Stevens.

Army Capt. Scott Bailey was recently promoted to his current rank during a ceremony held at Fort Hood, Texas. Bailey is serving at Fort Hood after returning from a 15-month tour in Iraq. Bailey is a 1999 graduate of Arlington High School and a 2005 graduate of Central Washington University. He is the son of Ron and Carla Bailey of Arlington.

Air Force Senior Airman Amanda R. Lucero is a military dog handler at the Department of Defense Military Working Dog Center at Lackland Air Force Base, Texas. She is the daughter of Judith Lucero of Sultan. With the 341st Training Squadron, the center is the largest canine training center of its kind in the world. The center has courses that train dogs and handlers to work together as sentries, as well as bomb and drug sniffers.

Navy Seaman Ashley (Becraft) Carson recently graduated from Naval Training Command in Great Lakes, Ill. Carson currently is attending school in Goose Creek, S.C., studying nuclear engineering. She is the daughter of Amanda Becraft of Bothell and Ray Becraft of Lynnwood and is a 2005 graduate of Meadowdale High School.

Army Pfc. Pankaj Kapil has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C. Kapil is the son of Chander Kapil of Everett and is a 2002 graduate of Everett High School.

Army Pvt. Tyler A. Treat has graduated from the Infantryman One Station Unit Training at Fort Benning, Columbus, Ga. He is the son of Angela Lubresky of Snohomish. The private is a 2007 graduate of Columbus Basin Job Corps Center, Moses Lake.

Army Pfc. Daniel N. Savoie has graduated from the Infantryman One Station Unit Training at Fort Benning, Columbus, Ga. He is the son of Marc and Kathy Savoie of Marysville, and is a 2004 graduate of Marysville-Pilchuck High School.

Naval Station Everett offers ethanol mix

Naval Station Everett offers an ethanol-gasoline mix at its Navy Exchange fueling station. It is available not only for official vehicles, but to both members of the military and civilians who have access to military installations.

The fuel availability supports a federal executive order to ensure that the federal government exercises leadership in the reduction of petroleum consumption through improvements in fleet fuel efficiency and the use of alternative fuels, a Navy spokesman said.

NAS Whidbey Island to improve RV park

Naval Air Station Whidbey Island plans a $4.8 million construction project next year to improve facilities and expand capacity at Cliffside recreational vehicle park and camping area, a 13.5-acre recreation area on the southwest corner of the Ault Field complex.

Cliffside RV Park was built in 1972 and features beach walking, a ball park, and ample opportunity to witness marine and land-based wildlife. The park is open to active duty, reserve and retired service members and their families from around the region.
