MUKILTEO — Strut your mutt at the Great Mukilteo Dog Show on Saturday.
Or come to dog watch and visit the vendor tents.
The show starts at 10 a.m. at Lighthouse Park. Check-in begins an hour before.
The first dog show last year was such a hit the Chamber of Commerce decided to bring it back.
“We had about 65 dogs and 200 people last year,” said Kandace Barnes, chamber president. “We’ll have food vendors this year. We hope to grow the event every year. It’s a silly, fun gathering.”
Competition is tail-wagging.
Categories include: Best Smile. Best Tail. Cutest Puppy. Cutest Senior. Most Slobbery. Ugliest Dog. Cutest Eyes. Fluffiest. Best Owner/Dog Look-alike. Best Mutt. Best Trick. Best Ears. Best Haircut. Best Legs. Best Wiggles. Best Outfit.
Entry fee is $10, with a limit of two categories per household. The event is free to attend. Bring a can or bag of dog food to donate to Old Dog Haven.
Dogs have to be registered to participate in the show. Registered as in signed up, not as in pedigree. A rabies vaccine is required.
Participants get a doggie swag bag. Category winners get gift baskets. Best in Show scores top prize.
A misting tent will cool off hot dogs and perspiring people.
Get some snaps at the Watkins Photography pet photo booth.
Mayor Joe Marine emceed the show last year and is back at it this year.
“I double dog dare you to attend. Bring family, friends and pets,” Marine said in a text.
If there was a category for mayors, he’d win for Best Haircut.
