Girl Scouts spread joy to seniors
Girl Scouts from Troop 48465 in Marysville recently put together and delivered “Joy Boxes” to 22 local senior citizens. Catholic Community Services of Snohomish County connected the girls with low-income elderly and disabled clients in the Marysville and Arlington areas.
“We were thrilled by the excitement of the young Girl Scouts and their desire to help others in need,” said Allison Taylor, of Catholic Community Services.
The girls are in the third and fourth grades. The Joy Box idea came from their troop leader, Nicole Coates, who had done similar projects with other troops. The Scouts voted to do the project. Items in the Joy Boxes included handmade cards, clay dolls and origami hearts, as well as other items that they purchased with some of their cookie sales proceeds.
