ARLINGTON — Spring is a busy time for students involved in the performing arts at Arlington High School.
The school’s wind ensemble, symphonic band and concert band, all directed by John Grabowski, perform at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Byrnes Performing Arts Center, 18821 Crown Ridge Blvd. Audit
orium doors open at 6:30 p.m. and admission is free.
Seniors Sara Abramowicz, Bradley Boatman, Lindsey Bullene, James Clark, Mario Cochinella, Cara Condon, Alex Hallowell, Sarah Harman, Alexander Howard, Benjamin Huge, Kenneth Krueger, Ryann Lewis, Hayden Love, Marissa Meyrick, Amber Montgomery, Madison Moss, David Murray, Viet Nguyen, Christopher Reece, Nathaniel Ries, Tylar Sallee, Jenna Tisler, Joshua Vaughan, Travis Walbrun, Colton Weils and Jennika Yates will be honored. During spring break, many of these students performed together at Disneyland.
The annual jazz band “Swing Into Spring” fundraiser is set for May 6 and 7 in the high school commons and the “Jazz on the Green” performance is scheduled for June 10 at the Gleneagle golf course.
Arlington’s drama department performs Neil Simon’s comedy “Rumors,” under the direction of Scott Moberly, at 7 p.m. April 22, with additional evening performances April 23, 29 and 30 at Byrnes Performing Arts Center. Tickets are $8 for adults and $6 for students and seniors and are available online at www.byrnesperformingarts.org.
“Rumors” is the story of four couples who gather to celebrate an anniversary only to find the host has accidentally shot and wounded himself in the head and his wife is missing. As lawyers try to cover up the disaster, the guests become more and more confused about what’s really going and each person embellishes on the rumors circulating in the room.
Seniors Caroline Rensel and Ashley Haskew finish their acting careers at Arlington High in the roles of Chris and Claire.
