The man, 32, was wanted for a felony parole violation, and also was a suspect in a hit-and-run crash involving a stolen car Tuesday night, Everett police Capt. Mike Campbell said.
Police had been searching for the man and tracked him to an apartment in the 1800 block of North Broadway.
At least two other people inside the apartment came out when police arrived just after 1 p.m., but the man refused. He indicated that he wasn’t going to surrender peacefully, Everett police Sgt. Boyd Bryant said.
Police surrounded the building, closed off the road and evacuated nearby businesses.
Employees of a hair salon beneath the apartment watched the standoff unfold from down the street. A customer was getting a haircut when they were suddenly rushed outside, said D’Ann Gidos, one of the hairstylists.
“The cops came in and told everyone to get out,” Gidos said.
Officers with guns drawn clustered around the stairway leading up to the apartment. About 30 minutes later, the man walked out and surrendered.
No one was injured.
Police searched the apartment, where they found an assault rife, a shotgun and drug paraphernalia, Bryant said.
The man was booked into Snohomish County Jail.
