SNOHOMISH — Heavy rain through Friday may bring more flooding to Snohomish County, according to the National Weather Service.
The worst is predicted along the Snohomish River. It’s expected to reach minor flooding early Thursday afternoon before climbing to moderate levels later in the day. By Friday, the river may be within inches of major flooding.
The Stillaguamish River is projected to see at least minor flooding in Arlington. Water over low-lying urban areas is also likely.
There may be a brief break Friday before rain begins again Saturday.
In the mountains, snow from earlier this week coupled with warming temperatures poses a severe avalanche risk.
Stevens Pass, Snoqualmie Pass and the western slopes of Mount Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest had a high risk avalanche warning in place Wednesday, according to the Northwest Avalanche Center.
Landslide risk is also high as heavy rainfall adds to already saturated soils, Weather Service meteorologist Johnny Burg said.
