BOTHELL — A driver turning left failed to yield for a bicyclist Thursday, causing a serious collision on Bothell Everett Highway, according to the Washington State Patrol.
A Bothell man, 22, was driving a gray Subaru WRX south around 5:46 p.m. when the driver turned left into an apartment complex in the 19700 block of the road, also known as Highway 527, troopers said.
The cyclist, on an electric-assist bike, was heading north in the bike lane and crashed into the right side of the car, according to the state patrol.
The cyclist, 54, also of Bothell, was thrown from his seat. An ambulance took him to Providence Regional Medical Center Everett with “multiple fractures,” trooper Rocky Oliphant said.
He was in serious condition, but his injuries weren’t believed to be life-threatening, Oliphant said. The driver was expected to be cited with an infraction for “failure to yield right of way to vulnerable user,” according to the state patrol.
