BREMERTON — The salary for mayor of Bremerton may be dropping.
The city council will consider a measure Wednesday to reduce the salary from $118,000 a year to about $94,000.
One council member who is running for mayor, Will Maupin, says it’s retaliation for a discussion of reducing the number of council members from nine to seven.
The Kitsap Sun reports both Maupin and the other candidate for mayor, Patty Lent, say the salary makes no difference to them.
Including benefits, the lower salary would save Bremerton $28,000 a year.
