BRIER — Three men wearing ski masks and hoodies invaded a Brier home over the weekend and held a family at gunpoint, according to the Brier Police Department.

Around 11 p.m. Saturday, three people reportedly forced their way onto a property in the 22400 block of Brier Road. One resident was assaulted, police said.

After the intruders left the house, they fired a single gunshot in an unknown direction, according to police. A shell casing was found on the property, and no one else was injured.

A total of 10 officers from the Brier, Mountlake Terrace, Edmonds and Mukilteo police departments were on the scene within three minutes of the 911 call, police said.

In the past year, there have been at least two other home invasions in south Snohomish County involving three suspects wearing dark clothing and masks. In January, three men reportedly wearing face masks and all-black clothes forced their way into a home in the 4100 block of 134th Place SE, Mill Creek. The suspects allegedly took “money and valuables” and left, according to the Mill Creek Police Department. The homeowners reportedly sustained minor injures but did not need medical attention.

In August 2022, Irah Sok was killed in her Everett home in the 2600 block of 96th Street SE in an apparent home invasion. Sok, 36, died of a single gunshot wound, according to the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office. Shortly after the shooting, three intruders reportedly left the home. There were no signs of a struggle before or after the gunfire. Two of the suspects were described as wearing masks, while the other had face paint, the sheriff’s office reported. Sok’s husband and child, who were also in the home, were uninjured.

Detectives were still actively investigating the death of Sok this week, sheriff’s spokesperson Courtney O’Keefe said. No public updates had been released, however.

Mill Creek police spokesperson Jody Hawkins said in January there was “no indication of a connection” between the Sok case and the Mill Creek home invasion.

Police were asking for help identifying a “white sedan type vehicle” in the Brier robbery. If you have any information, contact the Brier Police Department at 425-775-5452.
