SEATTLE — The Coast Guard has temporarily relieved Capt. Suzanne E. Englebert of her duties as commander of Coast Guard Sector Seattle which oversees marine security for Puget Sound.
Rear Adm. Gary T. Blore said in a statement Thursday that he had lost confidence in her ability to lead because of “an unacceptable command climate.”
Commander Mark McCadden with Coast Guard District 13 says a series of complaints about the work atmosphere led to the independent investigation.
He says investigators had concerns about communication between subordinates and superiors and other issues. But he says the investigation didn’t indicate any safety concerns.
Capt. Scott Bornemann has been temporarily assigned to command Sector Seattle, which covers a 3,500-square mile of Puget Sound.
